Happy Valentine’s Day

SAMOA valentine day

In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge Life Imitates Art

This photograph taken at Lano Beach, Savaii, Samoa.  We were staying at Lauiula Beach Fales which was steps away from the ocean. The dark patch’s in the ocean are coral and where the waves break is the outer reef.

I painted a Samoan lady to remind me of our holiday in Samoa.

Water Color Painting

What I Do In My Spare Time – Paint

Once a fortnight a friend holds an Art night at her home and she usually sets a theme.  The latest theme was ‘Water Colors’, I have never used water colors before and found them fairly easy to use.

We usually have a few wines and my friend always bake’s a yummy cake.  Here is a link to some of my acrylic paintings:

Georgetown is the colorful capital of the Malaysian Island Penang.  The inner city of George Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  Original shop houses and warehouses date from the 19th century to the 1930s.  Many of these historical buildings  are now guest houses, cafe’s and mansions.

Talented artist Paul Wang has captured these buildings in his beautiful sketches and watercolors.  Here is a link to his Flickr page which features, SE Asia, Europe and Australia.    https://www.flickr.com/photos/fireflyworkshop/

Whimsical Guest House in Bangkok

Phranakorn-Nornlea Guest House

This whimsical guest house situated in the old Bangkok District, Thailand and is within walking distance of Bangkok’s temples and Chao Phraya River. The design reflects local Thai life in the 1920’s.

Each quirky room is individually designed with its own distinctive painted murals, hand embroidered bedspreads, recycled furniture, patchwork cushions and curtains.  An organic rooftop garden supplies fresh produce for the restaurant, whilst a craft shop sells handmade crafts and eco-products.

This Guest House is definitely on my travel list.
